Senior Lifestyle and Injury Prevention Classes- Wednesday September 18 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am UMPC Susquehanna is offering a new education program for older adults- Senior Lifestyle and Injury prevention (SLIP) at the Life Center, Wiliamsport Branch YMCA 641 Walnut St, Williamsport. Classes are two- part series. During the first class, attendees are educated on fall prevention and home safety, and the second class is focused on driving and pedestrian safety, Staff from UMPC Susquehanna Outpatient Physical Thearpy will participate in class one of series offering assessments and referrals to primary care providers if needed. Why: The SLIP injury prevention program is designed to address the needs of older adults. Elderly persons are disproportionately at risk for poor outcomes following injury, and rapidly growing in the overall population. The aging process affects visual, cognitive, and psychomotor skills, and even simple tasks of daily living can put older adults at risk for injury.
